Kalkeri Sangeet Vidyalaya:
The music school where I since 24 May work already been started by a Two brothers from Quebec and is home to about 150 boys and girls from the neighborhood who live here and learn. It is located in a small village called Kalkeri 45 minutes by bus from the nearest town Dharwad from where we always go for shopping. The village is sealed off from the outside world in a beautiful landscape which is otherwise known from the documentary. When I arrived with all my stuff when I was sitting in the Rickshaw and completely overwhelmed by the imagery to I looked out the window, I saw fly by even several peacocks, totally beautiful! Besides the fantastic scenery, the friendly residents and dangerous looking dogs that bark at an instant, our village, two tea rooms and three small kiosks where you have cookies, books, candy and according to it can still buy toothpaste. You get fresh eggs from the farmer. I think that's it. We are really in the depths of India! Neighbors we have none. In addition to our school there is even a small but beautiful lake. Teaches Indian classical music and the children will be able to practice singing, tabla, sitar, flute and Shennai. No cost to them, as The school lives mainly on donations, collect the founder of Quebec and Europe. We always go to the 90-10 volunteers, there are new and old and there is something going imer. Some teachers teach with the indichen together English, art or math, one takes care of the garden, two ladies do office work and Anne and I are the Wardens for the girls and boys. Some Volunteers live in the House, a French girl and I have but our own homes, totally cool!
The whole school is built on a hill and my house is 5 steps from the highest and most beautiful point of the hill. I can look into the distance from there and see of top few houses that still belong to the village and then this panorama! A dream! The fact that we are in the midst of nature, one sees it, look at that from time to monkey with us over. They always come in groups, around 10 to 15, throw trash around, climbing on trees and see the shower to a screeching through the area, jump on the roofs and move to the tile (?) That are never fixed so then it rains. Mouth was also told me they do. In addition to monkeys, cow-house, give no milk, and four dogs, do not bite, we have a large variety of species of reptiles and stuff, known popularly as insects. The sizes and variations are unmatched.
The most beautiful but it is when I am on the mountain at night, letting me wrap from one of the pleasant cool breeze while looking at the million stars above me. And when looking past few fireflies, it is simply wonderful! Sunrises and sunsets are particularly beautiful from there.
My tasks:
as "Warden Boys" as they say I'm just a nice person and care about education by 80 boys 5-21 years. Actually, we were three wardens, but the third-is a Nepalese-since I am here on holiday and I know him at all not. My Indian colleague, but is Vasanth, 24 years old and actually a really nice guy. Our responsibility is to look after the children and help them in all possible respects and around the clock. The crazy thing is that it really is in close contact with them and know them better and like to learn. Even if one could get upset from time to time on one or the other, it is the dearest children at all and after a month of each of the 80 guys could have their names. Cool.
My daily routine: I wake up every morning
at 5:00 on clock, brush my teeth in the light of a flashlight and go at 5:30 Clock as it is still dark to the Young house where I repeatedly with "Good morning" and "Namaste" with some mild shoulder and wake sometimes with more vigorous shaker. It's been fun the ceiling wegzuzerren them easy (-:. When all are growing more or less, I give them a dab of toothpaste, forcing the children to brush teeth and then send it all to the "Music Practice" by 6 clock Then I go from room to room and check the presence of my list. That seems to be a popular hobby, we both have to make it 7 times a day, the lesson goes to 7 clock and then to shower the children of the shower is like all the showers. and toilets here simply separated by bamboo mats Area with a water tank in it, without, of course roof and extras.
The presence is checked, soap award, and coconut oil shampoo forced Sunday against fleas, small children will have a shower and there's breakfast at 7:45 clock in the so-called "Yoga Hall. Anyone who has washed his hands with soap and proven this to control me hold his nose, gets a plate, sit-down on the floor and we both have something can maintain peace and order before we can eat separately. So it runs at lunch (13 clock) and dinner (19:45 clock). Before each meal, there is a prayer and only then may be eaten. 17-18 Clock Time for the children where they can rent to me and I play mostly Speilzeug with them. The big ones always play Cricket, football, Frisbee, chess or other games. There are also real "games class" within school hours where I now and help. From 18-19:25 Clock I do the homework supervision and see that makes all his homework and the others do not interfere. What I find very funny the way it is punishing the children. In my old project, they were beaten, but here make the children from 1-5. Class, like Bart Simpson copywriting, that I tell them a sentence and you have to then write off 60-100 times, something like "I have to take shower every day!" or something. The older students have to write an essay on violence or punctuality, etc., depending on what was their offense. Whether they write it in English or Kannada, the local language here, it may choose. Here is a prime example:
India and Gandhi may of course in any essay missing (-:
After dinner, we then bring the kids to bed and remain mostly fallen asleep until most are , ie between 21:30 clock and 22 clock. If I have the nerve to tell them I am still a History, but right now I distribute massages and they like totally! If most are already eigeschlafen, I can go to bed. The
weare roughly described my daily scheduled work, but it also often incur any unscheduled work and you have to always settle disputes, make decisions, and allow things forbid, etc. Someone is always sick and missing his parents do a lot, especially the small , cute first graders. Sunday's no lesson, and therefore always a "Big Game", next week I'm organizing with two other Germans on the number of something.
We have several slightly older children to school We have now finished and go elsewhere to college, but continue to live here with us and support. The only woman among them always comes back by 20 clock and there quite late and dark and so is a lady of 18 years, it is always a volunteer with her brother who is also with us, picked up from the bus. Tuesdays and Thursdays I'm so in the series. Her brother and I always go back a little earlier, so we still have few minutes for a delicious tea, the bus stop is right at the Teeshop.
Twice a week I give in smaller groups called "Reading Classes" for poor readers, children. As they read what is before and I correct. It's fun because there are beautiful clear small groups. In the time that remains to me, I have the "Copywriting" books for the boys from the 3rd and 4 Class to prepare. As I write every few lines that he should be as nice and clean just write off until the next day to practice the writing.
Each of us has a "day off" where he always leaves at Dharwad purchases or other to do. For me it is to enjoy the Monday and since I can always afford to treat yourself and just use the "do-nothing-have". I usually go to the market, buy toast, milk, cereals, fruit and other snacks, check my mail, sometimes go "tear-free" food-for us there at least once a day, rice, always yummy and then'm just relaxing in my room. There is nothing better than a rainy Monsuntag sit in his room, drinking delicious tea and get acquainted with beautiful music in a warm blanket, cozy ... Overall, I just talked
am excited about our little school! It's all so beautiful and the landscape, the kids and the whole together are always so relaxed, simple and so different from Germany! I also feel that I am really learning a lot and learn. There are so many moments where I catch a new idea, it turn and turn, looking at it and feel that I have had this in advance so ... and it is good to see that I will be really pushed and used, that I often look very different views from me and I can sharpen their own. Reflect the love of my children and the experiences which I do every day from new me are the most valuable thing I could ever have dreamed of me.
