Finally I get a new entry to do here and would like to report an incident of what has really impressed me.
The so-called Ganesh festival is one of many, yet important events in the Indian holiday calendar and is dedicated to the elephant god Ganesh. I think it was on 24 August is when we made the pilgrimage in the morning with half the village school to get to the pre-ordered, 30 cm tall elephant statue in praise and song in the school. Everyone was dressed elegantly, the hair was greased with coconut oil and my colleague and I have Maxim eigeheitzt the herd with jubilation in choirs as a German football stadium (like the "hip hip Hurrah!"). One kept calling "Ganesh maratschki" and the rest "JAY!". Unfortunately I do not know what it means, but that was pretty funny midst of this hochhinduistischen meeting set the tone to indicate ... as a Muslim (-:
in school had been for days up a room especially for the god as it may, the Indians wait: Colorful, loud, ultra-corny, crowded and with flashing lights in a child's birthday, but only at much incense, coconut oil and deadly serious.
On the altar sat my "co-Warden" from Nepal and the only possession of the Sanskrit, he read from a book many Prayers and pointed out the other men next to him a how and in what order he intended to keep the ceremony. This scattered some powder on the statue, poured a few drops of oil over it, some lines are spoken, a defined on a cocoa-nut burning Something was with the nut rotated several times around the statue, same with incense, of course, again a few verses and then each got a few previously in the red rice powder inserted in the hand and could do the same to the Feuernuß beschmeißen and finally the god of rice.
ran short before everyone had had it all together and this really happened -! Three times around its own axis and only then was allowed to proceed to the altar. That sounds really funny in itself I think, but it is believed not as seriously take that. Thus, the God of the house will welcome and may stay there for a week before bringing him just where he comes from, in the sea! And that happened on the following Sunday at 31 August:
Inside Everyone Indians also have a child and I love the people here! And at this festival me a real childhood dream came true, just incredible!
may Unlike the Welcome day of Ganesh or should we not better put too smart. Everyone was wearing his old clothes and lunch you could see really how the tension rose slowly and all the special moment waited. Even if you had already told me what will happen, I was very excited and just curious. As I sat in the volunteer house in the hammock, I saw how suddenly all rushed to the house where the elephant God was able to enjoy his last minutes. I ran as many others down, too, looked like one of our workers was followed with a bag full of paint powder from the children.
On this day beschmeißt you simply with colored powder and is happy there. I do not know if it is to have a deeper meaning, but it is so much fun with each other to beschmeißen colors. Whether young or old, teachers, workers, students, cooks, everybody do everyone has the wildest color combinations in the face, no one looks really serious and all have fun! It was so incredibly beautiful! This yields Ganeschstatue jointly brought to the lake, it was drummed and danced violently (the Indians go from right) and it sank under the God of ceremonial prayers and gestures in the water. When it was all over, we are all next door to the lake and have bathed there, and then one is actually much dirtier than before, but whatever. The experience itself is worth it and just incredible ...
